Practice makes you better, whether it’s playing a sport or reading.
  • Read along while listening to an audio book
  • Read a magazine on something you enjoy (sports, fashion)
  • Read and follow a recipe
  • Read directions for a hobby project
  • Read a book of poetry
  • Read a picture book to a younger sibling
  • Read a book on a subject that you enjoy
 

Use reading strategies while you read.
  • Read a minimum of 20 minutes daily
  • Slow down and think about what you are reading
  • Reread what you do not understand
  • Visualize what is happening while you read
  • Look for context clues for a word you do not know
  • Summarize what you read to someone
